What it does
Most hook advice is a guess. Your own best ads, and a rival's, show what actually worked for an audience. The problem is seeing the pattern across dozens of ads by eye. This skill sorts each source's ads by results and marks the break point, where the numbers drop sharply. Above it are winners, below are losers. It then compares winners with losers: the psychology, the trigger words and framing, the grammar, and what is not obvious. Patterns that show up in two or more sources are marked universal. Each winning hook becomes a template with blanks. Your new hooks are graded against the rubric, line by line, and rewritten. It works best with 50 or more items. With four to ten per source, treat the rules as guesses to test.
You give it
- Your top 10 ads or videos with the hook or transcript and a result number
- The top 10 from one rival, kept separate
- Which items were boosted or paid, and which are off-topic
- Draft hooks to grade (optional)
You get
- Winners and losers split at the break point for each source
- A rubric in four buckets: psychology, trigger words and framing, grammar, and what is not obvious
- Rules shared across sources, plus custom rules per source, and fill-in-the-blank hook formats
- An A to D grade with reasons, and three rewrites, for each draft hook
Use it when
- You have a pile of old ads or videos and want to know what your winners have in common.
- You want to learn from one rival's best hooks without copying them.
- You have draft hooks and want them graded against what has worked.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Paste your top ads with the hook text and the metric you trust, such as views, hold rate or purchases. Mark any that were boosted or paid.
- Paste the top ads from one rival in a separate list. Do not mix rivals.
- Read the rubric and the hook formats. Treat every rule as a hypothesis to test.
- Paste your draft hooks to grade, then test the best rewrites in a real ad test.
