What it does
Most store avatars are a list of age, gender and income. Two buyers with the same profile can buy your product for different reasons, and two very different people can buy it for the same one. The reason is the job: the progress the buyer wants in a certain moment, such as "when I get home late and the kids are hungry, I want a dinner on the table fast, so I can stop feeling like I am failing them". This skill starts from whole stories, not from segments. It groups stories with a similar struggle, writes each group's job in a plain sentence, and tests that the job is at the right level. Then it adds what pushed the buyer, what pulled them, what habit held them back, what worried them, and what they stopped using to buy from you. Every card needs quotes. No quotes, no card. For…
You give it
- 5 to 8 recent buyer stories, such as interview notes, long reviews, support emails or post-purchase survey answers
- Your product link and price
- A job spec (optional)
- Order data, such as dates and items bought together (optional)
- Competitor reviews, if you have no buyers yet (optional, and the cards are marked low confidence)
You get
- One avatar card per job group, with the job in one situation sentence and the circumstance it happens in
- Practical, emotional and social sides of the job, the trigger moment and the buying timeline
- The four forces for each avatar, what they stop using to buy, and their own words, each with a quote
- A "not for" line per avatar and a list of claims in the quotes that need proof
Use it when
- Your avatar is a demographic list and your ads still miss.
- You have a pile of reviews, support emails and survey answers, and no clear picture of why people buy.
- You are about to brief a writer or a designer and want every claim about the buyer backed by a quote.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Paste each buyer story as it is, with the date and where it came from. Leave out names and contact details.
- Add your product link and price. Add order data if you have it.
- Read each card's quotes first. If a card rests on one story, treat it as a lead and go find more stories.
- Hand the cards to your ad or page writer, or run the Job test product line cutter to sort your range.
