What it does
People do what they are rewarded for, not what you meant. Pay a support team by tickets closed and tickets close fast, whether or not the problem is fixed. Pay a seller on revenue and discounts spread. The plan looks fine on paper while the rewards quietly pull the other way. This skill lists everyone involved and how each is paid or rewarded, then says what each reward really encourages. It finds where that differs from your goal, and looks for a small change in the reward that fixes it. It checks the fix for loopholes and checks that pay is fair first, so money is not the issue. It also splits the work into routine tasks and thinking tasks, because the same reward does not suit both.
You give it
- The team, plan or deal in plain words, and the goal it should serve
- How each person or party is paid or rewarded
- The plan from an earlier step (optional)
- Plan (optional)
You get
- A table of people, rewards and the behaviour each really encourages
- Each mismatch with a concrete example
- A fix that pays for the outcome you want, with a loophole check
- A note on pay fairness and on which work is routine and which is thinking

- You are about to sign a deal, a commission plan or a contract.
- You are setting up a new role or pay plan and want to catch problems early.
