What it does
If your store looks like the others, shoppers pick on price or do nothing. Positioning means taking a clear place in the shopper's mind that the other choices do not hold. The hard part is finding a place that is real, not just a slogan. This skill lists every real alternative a shopper has, including the cheap one, the premium one and doing nothing. It puts them on an XY grid with two things shoppers feel, such as speed against status. It then swaps an axis and plots again, so you can see where each option fits someone. It scans for gaps by size, price, who it is for, time of day, where it is sold and heavy users, and tests each gap with pass or fail checks. You end with one corner, one claim, who it is for and who it puts off, and the sacrifice it needs.
You give it
- Your product, its price and who it is for
- Five to ten alternatives shoppers really compare, including stores, brands and doing nothing
- What shoppers say they care about, from reviews, support tickets or ad comments
- Your brand traits and price tier, and your monthly marketing budget and team size
- Three to five brands from other industries you admire (optional)
- Brand brain (optional)
- Customer words (optional)
You get
- Ten candidate axis pairs and two or three plotted XY maps
- The crowded zones and the open zones, and each gap tested pass or fail
- One recommended corner, who it serves, who it puts off, and what you give up to own it
- A one-line claim, three actions that make it true, and a 30-day check
Use it when
- You are picking a store or product angle and need a place rivals do not hold.
- Your products look like everyone else's and you need a reason to be chosen.
- You are deciding on voice and look and want to see where your category is crowded.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Paste your product and your five to ten alternatives with a line on each. Add shopper words from reviews.
- Say if you want a claim grid (what to say) or a voice and look grid (how to sound), or both.
- Ask two people to place the brands on the map separately, then compare. The AI cannot see data, only the descriptions you give.
- Test the claim on five target shoppers for a few seconds, and run the 30-day check.
